Hindu Mantras

Om Vakratundaya Hum mantra lyrics in Sanskrit:

”Aum vakratundaya hum
Aum vakratundaya hum
Vakratundaya deemahi
Ganesha Avatara namaha.”

Ganapati mantra to remove present obstacles meaning:

Om – this sacred sound is not from any religion or language. Aum (or Om) is the universal symbol for individuals of all faiths, races, religions and cultures. In addition, when Om is recited, the frequency at which it vibrates is 432 Hz. “Om is the primordial throb of the universe. It is the sound form of Atma.” ~ Maitri Upanishad.
Vakratundaya – represents Lord Vinayaka’s curving trunk. Lord Ganesha’s trunk is a remarkable weapon with which Ganapati sets straight those who go astray.
Hum – by regularly chanting the syllable ”hum”, we pray to Lord Ganesha for immediate intervention in dissolving our obstacles. Furthermore, in this mantra, “Hum” signifies to delay no more in straightening paths.

Chanting benefits:

This powerful Sanskrit mantra invokes Lord Ganapati to remove every obstacle (negative karma) in your life and in your work projects. When recited with a sincere heart, this mantra evokes genuine devotion and is meant to help remove life’s troubles. You need to believe in His might and pray to Lord Ganapati with full devotion and a pure conscience.

The mantra should be chanted in multiples of 108 (1 mala) and recited (mentally or aloud) using a Rudraksha Japa Mala with the utmost devotion and while visualizing Lord Ganesha in one’s head during the mantra chanting. When this is done at a precise hour and place, regularly for 48 days, it becomes an upasana, which represents an intense meditation, that will yield spiritual powers (siddhis).

More information:

Lord Ganesha, son of Lord Shiva (the Auspicious One) and Goddess Parvati (the Hindu goddess of love and devotion), is worshiped and revered in Hindu religion as the god of intellect, wisdom, beginnings, knowledge, and remover of obstacles. Children invoke him as patron of letters, women wishing for wealth, youth as a source of valor and courage, and the elderly people for salvation and knowledge.

The name ”Ganesha” is a Sanskrit compound, joining the words ”gana”, translating as a group, multitude, or categorical system and ”isha”, translating as ”master” or ”lord”.

He is married to 2 beautiful daughters of Vishwabrahma. They are Siddhi and Riddhi, where Riddhi represents knowledge and Siddhi represents perfection.

According to ancient legends, Lord Ganapati is a great scribe and learned in religious scriptures and lore. Thus, He is commonly illustrated with only one tusk, since it is considered that He broke off the other so that He could inscribe the epic Mahabharata, a Hindu religious sacred text, which was dictated to Lord Ganapati by the seer Vyasa.

With Goddess Lakshmi, Lord Ganesh grants money, prosperity, wealth, good luck, riches, abundance, happiness, and all material successes. Moreover, Lord Ganapati’s blessings are sought before starting any new venture (spiritual or material).

He is very fond of sweet treats, sweet-smelling scents, and the color red. Before you begin to worship Lord Ganapati, you need to gather all of these necessary items so that you’ll be able to do it properly. The festival Ganesh Chaturthi is celebrated across Indian homes but it is frenetic in the great city of Mumbai, that infuses it with the greatest community fervor. For ten fantastic days, the city is sprinkled with majestic Ganpati pandals.
