He is a Buddha within one’s self-nature. His world also appears in one’s mind. Basically, everything is a reflection and cannot be separated from one’s true nature. “Amitabha” is translatable as “Infinite Light,” thus He is usual called “The Buddha of Infinite Light.”

According to Mahayana scriptures, Amitabha Buddha possesses infinite merits resulting from positive actions over countless past lives as a Bodhisattva named Dharmakara.

He has perfected great compassion, kindness, joy, and renunciation. Having attained wisdom and blessings, His unselfish wish is to lead all living beings to attain them. Buddha Amitabha has vowed that all living beings who recite His name will realize Buddhahood.

His most important enlightenment technique is the visualization of the surrounding world as a paradise. Who sees His world as a paradise, awakens his true enlightenment energy.

Moreover, Amitabha Buddha has 48 great vows to establish and adorn his Pure Land. Individuals also recite or call upon His name by the time of dying and will be born in the Land of Ultimate Bliss with the reception by Buddha Amitabha.
